Process Update and Why the Change
What is NASBA?
NASBA stands for the National Association of State Board of Accountancy.
The reason behind discontinuing 'Standard CPE' is to offer more relevant and nationally accepted CPE credit for our employees and clients. The previous standard did not meet the national level of requirements. Moving forward, we will only offer the CPE on the NASBA level for who must continuously earn these required ongoing professional development education credits in order to remain compliant with their credentials/certifications.
Applications
- Group Live (i.e. Events)
- Group Internet Based (i.e. Webinars)
- Hybrid

The PM should secure and provide the developer(s) and reviewer(s) to L&D at the same time.
Key Changes = Developer and Reviewers are required now
Find the Support earlier:
- The developer cannot review their own work, and the reviewer cannot be part of the development team
- The PM should secure and provide the developer and reviewer to L&D at the same time
- It is the PMs responsibility to get at least 2 possible reviewers (try for 3) for PPT and polling questions
- Don’t forget about blackout dates and/or PTO for these support roles that may impact the timeline
Course Developer and Reviewer musts:
* If the subject matter is A&A (accounting/auditing), at least one developer and the reviewer needs to hold an active CPA or EA license.
* If the subject matter is Taxes, at least one developer and the reviewer needs to hold an active CPA, EA license, or be a tax attorney.
What Success Looks Like
- The PPT cannot have any ‘last minute’ changes. The PM must submit the PPT to L&D and the reviewer at least one full week prior to the event date.
- Learning objectives should be approved by L&D and this should be one of the first steps, as the learning objectives need to be included on the invitation that goes out.
- Invitations have templates you can follow to stay compliant in the CPE Process article
- Enter a polling question into the PPT whether virtual or in-person
- During in-person or in zoom – try to use the APP polling question or QR code as last slide
- Use the L&D standard (and required!) questions for evaluations and surveys to stay compliant
- Utilize the supplemental best practices
